Meet one of our favorite landscapers: Heidi Branchesi. Heidi Branchesi did not grow up in Oregon, but she’s been gardening here for the last 20 years. Heidi is the adventurous type in fact a 3-month trek across the country landed her in the Willamette Valley at the Maitreya Eco-Village. She has called Eugene home ever since.

Heidi is a multi-talented gardener and grower providing local landscaping services while also farming food on part of the 5-acres to preserve, enjoy, and sell.

“I grew up surrounded by my mother’s houseplant collection,” says Heidi when asked what first inspired her to get interested in gardening. “I remember her staying up all night once to take a picture of a cactus that only bloomed at night.”

That sort of commitment and tenacity has certainly followed Heidi on her own journey with gardening, and you will regularly find her toiling in the earth or enjoying one of nature’s little creatures, such as the random praying mantis she may befriend while working outdoors.

Heidi specializes in perennials, shrubs and native plants, as well as flowers and growing food organically. You can sometimes find her in the summertime, sharing her bounty at the Spencer Creek Grange Growers Market.

Naturally, when Heidi isn’t gardening, she’s still outdoors — in her spare time she enjoys hiking and backpacking; she recently logged 90 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail and is ready for more. Heidi is a regular contributor to the Lane Forest YOG:BLOG and we love having her timely tips.
